bio

I started taking considerable numbers of photographs eight years ago. Perhaps because I was learning about photography in quite an unstructured way (which meant I was spending huge amounts of time on the internet in emotional rows over other people's photographs), I eventually decided to test my skills against a challenge of a formal course. Still, the internet period brought me an interesting experience of co-editing one of the web photography galleries. Its owner invited me as well to help in editing a series of periodicals intended as a review of emerging Polish photographers.

Three years ago I took a course on black and white photography with Kerstin Hacker at TVU and decided to start an MA in Photography there. Excellent art theory classes with Lesley Stevenson and Peter Smith changed profoundly my scientific mindset and led me to discover the value of my own practice.

I am interested in photographing illusion, in other words my images are about the bond between perception and reality. I bear in mind what someone wrote: 'we already know that this is not a pipe'. Thus, my photographs are an attempt to create self-conscious illusions.

I am working as a Project Manager for a large telecommunications company. I am also an enthusiastic follower of Diamond Way Buddhism.
I have a degree in Banking and am ACCA-qualified.
I speak fluent Polish, English and good French.
I was born in Poland in 1974. I decided to move to the UK in 2004. I live in London.
